Hey there... My knowledge about computers is very minimal so please bear with me.

Everything was working fine before I left, and just turned off my comp without shutting down. When I tried to start it up, I got this blue screen stating INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE and check for viruses on computer. Remove newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers and check HD if it is properly configured and terminated. Also, Run CHKDSK /F for HD corruption then restart computer. But, I couldn't do all these cause I couldn't boot up to my desktop, even tried booting to safe mode but it gave me the same blue screen. I don't remember installing anything new on my HD and what not. I'm using Windows 2000 Pro. Can anyone help me with/through it? Thanks a lot.

Hi.. Yes, I did the F8 thing but it won't load even on safe mode. I can't get access to my desktop cause it's stuck in the blue screen, it won't let me do anything when i tried tapping all the keys. :(

DELL, HP, Compaq???
These come with a recovery disk...A warning o0n useing it, it may REDO the whole drive. And you loose all data.

IF you or a friend has aNOTHER computer... you can install it on the other, and run CHKDSK/scandisk on this drive...
Then I would suggest, taking OFF the data(ONLY DATA), pics, movies, Letters, and soforth..and REDO the drive.
Chkdsk and scandisk MAY fix the problem, but something messed up the boot block. could be a virus, a Bot, or a HARDWARE ERROR.

HP... My computer was assembled by a friend so I don't the recovery disk, and what not. I was told that if I have the Win 2k CD-ROM, I'll be able to get access to my desktop; then, reformat it. What can I install on another computer? Cause I'm using my laptop so I might be able to do it on here. Thanks.

If its a laptop, its not worth the hassle to set up.

IF you have the win200 CD...go for it...BOOT to the CD, may have to change the BIOS to do this.
When it boots there SHOULD be a recovery section, that will run tests and such...
IF not dump to the DOS, and run chkdisk C:... To see options Chkdisk /? works and gives lots of info.

FLOPPY DISKS , are fun...
There are Heads inside for writing data, those HEADS can rattle around, and change position...So, that ANYTHING written on one computer, wont read on ANOTHER floppy drive...its So much fun...
Its like the Timing belt on a car...A little OFF, to one side or the other, and it Just DONT work..
