I am sure I am becoming a burden but to others this might be a quick fix. I have (2) questions
1) My Mcafee Firewall is expired and i am seeking out a good (fair priced) security suite. I have done some research from different sites (pcmag.com, pcworld.com) to find out the best suite coming up w/ different ones. Any suggestions I was looking @ Panda but wasn't sure.
2) Try to explain this as clearly as possible I installed the instant message ICQ (don't ask me why :eww ) after attempting to delete it off every time i turn my cpu on a box comes up saying i am missing a "skin" it won't let me delete this program. Any insight on this pest??
Thank You!! :thumb
Good luck erasing Either..
suggest look at TREND micro

I'm not too fond of security suites however if it's what you're looking for I'd vote along with ESA and say Trend Micro. If you can stand putting things together yourself some I'd suggest the mix of free secuity tools
Antivirus: AVG Free (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1)
Antimalware: Windows Defender (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=435bfce7-da2b-4a6a-afa4-f7f14e605a0d&DisplayLang=en)
Firewall: Windows XP built-in firewall.
As to the ICQ question, are you trying to remove the software with the Windows Control Panel add/remove programs tool or with the uninstaller in the program folder?

Thanks to everyone for the help. I attempted to delete through the add/delete programs (OS = Windows XP pro) and it won't let me cause i am missing a skin it says and that box comes up everytime i boot my cpu up :crazy
As far as the security suite, i will look at Trend Micro (that was one that was considered) what's funny w/ all these security suites is that one might be better @ spyware and others stronger in Antivirus so many choices it seems ha,ha..
The market for protection is a FUN one.
One company may be VERY good for years, and THEN fall into the dust.
Its a continual change, looking for the BEST, and most reasonable.
with Bots, Adware, trojans, Dialers, and alot thats out there, THAT arent considered Virus...It really makes it fun.
there is NO, ALL around program that works for ALL..and i find it better to AIM a program at what i wish to kill.
As to ICQ...I would see about removing it manually.. Go into ITs preferances, and TELL it NOT to turn on, at startup, then reset...Then remove the DIR, and hope its MOSTLY gone.
I hate ICQ, its TO BIG, to much of a system HOG, and ITS still BETA after 7 years..
