Do they really think they are going to sell that many of those? Someone has wasted a hefty sum invested in research and development of that thing. Unless they can get high schools or something to start training kids to use that thing early on rather than a keyboard then no one is going to buy it. Who sits around wanting to learn how to type all over again?

Maybe there are some specialized uses for it but I can't imagine it becoming a mass market thing.

What I want to know is as of march 2006 are the units available? I don't want to order one just to find out that they are on backorder.

December 28, 2005: We received 300 AlphaGrips yesterday and expect another 200 tomorrow. We expect to receive another 500 in the first half of January. We have begun testing them and for the most part they are working fine (we've only had to reject 2 out of 50 so far). We will begin contacting our pre-launch customers today and expect to start shipping orders next week.

bic2k writes "AlphaGrip has opened their doors to pre-orders this past week. (Previously mentioned here.) Press release can be found here. They look a lot like an xbox controller, but contains 42 buttons and a analog stick. Shows up as a standard USB keyboard and mouse. Has a USB expansion slot, which will possibly be used for wireless connectivity. They claim typing speeds of 50 WPM or better after a month or so. They're waiting for 5000 pre-orders before going to manufacturing, so it may be awhile before they actually ship these."

Well, this morning which is friday I emailed em and they told me that if I ordered today that I would get it shipped immediately. I told them I'm paying a little extra if they could alter the shipping method and they said they would overnight it for me fedex. And I then went ahead and ordered.
So tommorow I get to try it out. :thumb

Rob,

I assure you we will consider all of this group's suggestions when designing
the AG-6. Your objectives are our objectives, including maximum comfort and
minimum finger movement.

Mike

But that could be in the future...and who knows how long that could be.
