According to Forrester Research, "Ripping, downloading, and burning CDs have not caused music industry sales to drop. Instead, look to the recession, competition for entertainment dollars including videogames, and limited access to new acts for the reason behind the struggle. What can the industry do? Support consumer demand by making it easy to find music online and enable consumers to copy whatever they want and pay per song, for 100 downloads at a time, or by subscription. The result? By 2007, downloads will generate $2.1 billion, or 17% of the music business, propelling the industry to its fourth consecutive year of growth."
