For some reason when I start Outlook (Office version) MSN Messenger is popping up again without my permission. How do I disable this in Outlook.

It ticks me off that Microsoft forces people to use their products!

You can't with Office 2003, MSN Messenger is required to be running for some of the contact/address book features to work. It's not doing anything, you're not being forced to use it as your IM client, ignore it :) I understand that this changes with Windows Messenger Live! to be release *soon* and that it will have to be running to get the same functionality. We'll see.

Sometimes it is randomly logging in and booting me from trilian though.

Find the "Set Program and Access Defaults" little app in XP and set the default IM app to trillian.
