Figured since I was new, that I might start a new thread!
I've read the articles and I follow the technology..but I STIL can't believe what Jobs was thinking- allowing BootCamp to come out and run Windows on a Mac. Sacralige!!!
Any idea what he's trying to do- cause I'm a little confused... omg:

Give a user the best of both worlds? I think it will garner Apple a much larger market share. One of the Mac's greatest weakness was its lack of software relative to Windows. That limitation is now gone.
After a hiatus of 16 years I got myself another Mac (MacBook Pro) to replace my vpr Matrix 185A5. I received it last week and the LCD promptly failed after about eight hours. I'm OK with that as I got the laptop at a (highly) reduced price and it is being repaired by Apple on their dime.
For Windows applications I am using Parallels Desktop (http://www.parallels.com/en/products/desktop/). Pure greatness! It allows you to run Windows as an application in a window on your Intel Mac desktop.

The thing with me and Apple is that every time i think of returning to the Mac, they mess up in some way that is completely unacceptable to me. Was gonna get an Intel Mac mini. On board graphics? Screw you. Hey, Macbooks look nice, and i could run Windows! One mouse button? Friggin Hell. I would only buy a Mac if I could still use Windows natively. I want my gamezzz!

I think it's pretty sweet actually. I know Dan is using Parallels and loves that program because you can switch between the Oses without a reboot. Apple needs something like that.

All Intel based Macs can run Parallels. I have my girlfriend's MacBook Pro running Win2K in a OS-X window in turn running Office and a couple of statistical packages (STATA and SPSS). Performance is great. Oh... and she doesn't have to worry about worms/viruses/etc. I only allowed local networking for the virtual machine. Windows is more or less an application program instead of an operating system in this case.

MacBook Pro x/BootCamp. WinXP SP2 natively. ATI video chipset for gameszzz. Touchpad is one button, yes... but not as much of a limitation as you'd think. Tap touchpad with two fingers brings up context menu in OS-X. External mouse can have two buttons & scrollwheel. I can't wait to get my MBP back in my mitts (bad display, whine, heat, etc... Apple is fixing and I save $500 off original retail).

Yeah, I've kept up with it, but the lack of a second mouse button when using XP, and the fact I could just get a Dell for $500 cheaper makes me balk. Besides, I need a new desktop right now and will consider teh MacPro when they are released. Problem is that if I pay the money to get a prebuilt system (plus the Apple tax), I want support, and I doubt Apple will be receptive to any XP problems I might have.

The upcoming version of Parallels will let you play Windows Games at full speed!
As for the mouse, I would just pick up a Logitech and you should be golden. I am not a huge fan of the Mighty Mouse.

He's trying to show he makes a better computer. While the MacBook Pro is expensive ,any one I know of who balks at the price, their computers suck compared to mine. The graphics on my MacBook Pro blow most laptops away, and they just up the processor speed and graphics memory from the pro I got. The only laptop I have seen that compares, even though there might be others, is an Alienware that costs even more and is over 2x thicker and also wider and deeper than my pro. Apple puts it all in a nice package and it is extra durable. Thats what you pay for. and when spending over $2000 another $200 is little to quibble about in my opinion.
