For some odd reason, I started getting these pop up adds. When i check my task manager, i usually see something called Project1 not responding, and after browsing through spyware logs, i have reason to belive that I indeed have it. I've already tried Norton, Spybot S & D, and Ad-Aware SE, none being able to remove it (A message keeps poping up after I try to remove it, saying something like "Restart your computer and try removing again."). Some help would be much appreciated.

I did the things on your instructions and I am getting a smaller magnitude of pop ups. When I followed your instructions, I wasn't able to locate and delete the following files:

The log looks much better. I need to check on those 2 files.

Download and Run Ewido Security suite

http://download.ewido.net/ewido-setup.exe

Run Ewido:
Click on scanner
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido

Post a new HijackThis log along with the Ewido log you saved.........Jim

did you enable view all files?
Pandora's Box i.e. Windows explorer (right click Start button, left click Explore)
-tools-folder options-view check show hidden and uncheck hide extensions and protected system.
apply
refresh by pressing F5 key. drill down to folder where offending files are. try to delete.
if you can't, try it in safe mode or i can explain about changing file extension.
Don't forget when you are done to go back and restore to default view!
good luck I've fought this one twice now and am still not sure what it is.

Download Brute Force Uninstaller to your C:\

http://www.merijn.org/files/bfu.zip

Unzip it to a folder of its own (C:\BFU). So BFU should be on your root. In most cases this is C:\

Download qoofix.bat (rightclick on this link and choose save as)

http://downloads.subratam.org/Lon/qooFix.bat

Place qoofix.bat in your C:\BFU - folder. (Important!)

Doubleclick qooFix.bat, Close all browsers and explorer folders.

Choose option 1 (Qoolfix autofix) and follow the prompts.

Please be patient, it will take about five minutes.
After the PC has restarted please post another hijackthis log.......Jim
