A little help, a lot of appreciation

Apparently using a firewall and scanning everything requently didn't stop something from getting into my computer. Could someone please give me an idea of what happened? My computer's taken a tendency to reboot when I am running Adaware, and some of the things in the log look a lot like Winfixer which I had a few times.

Looks like Winfixer to me.

Your copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. When HJT fixes anything, it makes backups of the original files in the folder it is in. For this reason it cannot be run from a Zip file or from Temporary folders because the backups will be deleted. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!


1. Please go to you're 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' then name the folder 'HJT'.

2. Copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder.


3. Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode.(Tap F8 on startup)

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
You will first be presented with a warning and a list of forums to seek help at.

In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.


Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
Empty Recycle Bins
Delete Cookies
Delete Prefetch files
Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Some things I thought to mention, I had a lot of trouble getting into safe mode because once I clicked user and the window popped up asking me if I wanted to continue into safe mode, it kept going to a black screen, or showing the desktop icons before going into a black screen that had the top and bottom words indicating it was in safe mode. Later, after running VundoFix, it could not find HJT, and I could not click start because it had gone into the black screen once more. It wouldn't force a reboot when I pressed any keys, so I did it manually and ran HJT afterwards. From there, things were as you said. Just thought I'd mention. First is my HJT log and second will be the vundofix file.

aye, I do, but it still came back anyway. So far, it looks like things running a lot better though, which I'm gonna take as a very good sign!

Make sure you update SpywareBlaster and your other Spyware programs once every 2 weeks or so. they add new definitions all the time.
