I am about to buy a hard drive to use externally on my laptop. I'm going to opt for an internal HD in an enclosure as opposed to a straight-up external HD because 1. its cheaper and 2. I can move it internally to a future desktop. My question is if I am going to be using a USB 2.0 enclosure for the hard drive, is there any real advantage to going with SATA. I know SATA is normally much faster, but with the USB bottleneck would I even see that much of a speed advantage? The drive would for the most part be used for storage because I already have a 100gig external Firewire hard drive for running applications.
