So I’m a huge comedy fan and I thought I’d start this thread to share some of my favorite routines with y’all. I doubt I’ll get to it every day, but I’ll try to get to it at least a few times a week. Here’s the first installment:
Listen to Marketing & Advertising by Bill Hicks : http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/12409846
(to listen to it you have to do a quick register w/ Napster, but all they need is a valid e-mail address, and you don’t have to sign up for anything). Oh, and feel free to post your favorites!

This is currently my favorite George Carlin routine, but it's a hard choice, the man's got a 45+ year career: Listen to Advertising Lullabye by George Carlin : http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/13782351

I've seen this lady live, and she's funny as hell and definitely insane. Anyone seen "The Comedians of Comedy"? She was on that. Listen to Hollywood Standards by Maria Bamford : http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/15209170

Guess I shoulda seen this before I wrote my last comment:
RON WHITE!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3X16WbcXkM&search=Ron%20White
This is his "They call me Tater Salad" routine. Another favorite of mine other than "You Can't Fix Stupid", which is the one I just mentioned.

Ron White is so funny. I liked him a lot better before the whole "blue collar comedy" thing, though. I feel like a lot of his new stuff that I've seen is just watered down and extended versions of his old stuff. Maybe all that booze is catching up to him. I used to have a tape with 4 comedians talking about the 1988 elections and politics called "Strange Bedfellows". Ron White was one of them. I'm glad he's gotten some recognition, but his old stuff is so much better.
Speaking of old: Listen to Christ and Moses, Come On Down by Lenny Bruce : http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/16018340

I've gotten that feeling from him too- actually.
Yeah, Jeff Foxworthy et. al. was probably a good move for him, but yeah...they're going to run out of stuff quickly I feel like. A lot of it is a little more reptitive than I'd like...
Then again, it takes a LOT to come up with new stuff all the time, and it is FUNNY pretty much every time you hear it.
I feel like that's a sign of a truely good comedian.
Any idea what kind of whiskey he actually drinks? I know he's said they don't pay him anything so he puts it in his glass container there so as not to promote him. I think that would be a great little promo deal...

Heh, no idea what kind of whiskey he drinks. That would be a funny promo... I'm going to pretend it's corn whiskey, because that's what this country was built on. :)
Another classic: Listen to Dave (Album Version-Greatest Hit) by Cheech & Chong : http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/12086012
AND sence you are hooked up to Napster, and most of US are not....
It dont do much good...DUH..

Dude, I'm not hooked up to Napster. I don't have a subscription. I'm using NapsterLinks which is different from their main service. It's free, for one thing. You just need to do a quick reg. here: http://www.napster.com/napsterlinks/ and all my links will work. I tried to use myspace, but it was long and confusing.
I'll have to check these out when I get home. I've seen a few Ron White shows on Comedy Central that were pretty good.
Anyone see the Foxworthy roast on Comdey Central? I missed it.

I did see the Foxworthy roast. I don't remember it well enough to quote specific parts, but my overall impression was that it was funnier than their average roast. I didn't even watch all of the Pam Anderson roast.... not funny, to me, anyway.
Gotta give it up for my ladies: Listen to What Women Want by Judy Tenuta: http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/15035096

I saw the Foxworthy Roast too. It was on a couple of weeks ago, right?
I love those Blue Collar Boys, honestly...its good, genuine comedy. Foxworthy is a genuis though- he created that whole group and I'm sure he's rolling in dough from all the spin-offs and residuals. He probably doesn't live a life that even closely resembles "Blue Collar" anymore, but then again, its really more a state of mind.
...speaking of which...I think its time to have a beer on the porch. Peace!

Do i need to be registered with Napster for those links to work? Because right now they are just linking to the front page.

you need to be registered with "napsterlinks" which is different from Napster's main service in that it's free, and they don't spam you. Once you quick reg (I think they just need a name and an e-mail, can't remember) you'll link straight to a web-based media player that'll play the links, instead of their weird main page thing. I dunno, it works different now from how it did when I originally posted this, I think. Still free though.
I wish I could find some of this gentleman's older stuff, but I guess post-mental institution will have to do: Listen to Ebay by Jonathan Winters: http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/13782689

Judy Tenuta rocks--I haven't heard her in a loooong time. Wanda Sykes is one of my favorite comediennes right now...anyone seen any of her stand-up specials on Comedy Central? She was also hilarious in a few episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm. :P
