some mouse trouble

My mouse moves incredibly slow. I've been to Mouse Properties -> Pointer Options, but the part that I need: Motion -> Select A Pointer Speed is disabled. It's just that light gray color, and I can't click anything there. And its set on REALLY slow. I have a laptop, which has a mouse built in, and I have a USB mouse connected. Both are having this problem. I've tried to go to safe mode to fix it, and found that it works fine there.

Any ideas on how to enable that option in regular mode? Thanks for the help!

What type of USB mouse are you using? If its Microsoft's try installing the intellimouse software: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/downloads/default.mspx
