If he is hardcore techie as one would presume, then he should stick with his busines model and avoid the quick buyout.

I was told that the oil industry offered to buy it but he declined. You know the oil industry would have just killed it and continued with their dirty ways!

funny how countries that have lots of oil do not have enough water and vice versa. Technology sounds very cool, haven't heard of it elsewhere though, is that for real?

I bet its real, but even so, in reality it has to be super expensive to implement for commercial use. Know what I mean?

yeah, probably, depends on scale.
If, say, GM decided to put a good few millions into such venture with a perspective to start a mass production then chances are cost might be kept low.
Especially that if they do not fail in first year, other car manufacturers will certainly follow. I mean you can't afford waiting while your competitors innovate, can you?
And with budding eco awareness in the rich parts of the world there might be market for this type of cars.
