Apologies if this isn't the correct place to start this thread.

I've got to renew my subscription for Norton AV & Firewall 2004 and was considering an upgrade to Norton Internet Security Suite 2006. Upgrade version is £55 and the standard version of Norton Internet Security Suite 2006 (if bought from symantec store website) is £45. WHAT are the differences between the two versions if any? And do these have any installation problems depending on which version I choose to purchase?

Many thanks in anticipation of your help........

I have heard terrible stories about Norton Software to be honest. I just use Norton Antivirus 2003 at home and update it when I need to. If you have a hardware firewall in your router, use that. Or use the Windows XP built in Firewall. There is really little reason to pay for a software one.

I would get TrendMicro for the antivirus, Spybot/Lavasoft Adaware for anti-spyware and use Windows Firewall and you should be golden.

Spybot (make sure to update it): http://downloads.digitaltrends.com/Internet/Web+browsers+and+tools/Spyware+cleaners/310138/Spybot+-+Search+and+Destroy.html

Ad-Aware (make sure you update it): http://downloads.digitaltrends.com/Internet/Web+browsers+and+tools/Spyware+cleaners/236049/Ad-aware.html

I've had a couple of clients renew Norton's but not the EXACT same package i.e. Nortons Antivirus vs. Norton's Internet Security Suite. It has gone horribly wrong for them. I don't know why other than by supposition the program is so inclusive with interdependcies in program modules that it blows when only one portion is updated. Can we say Revenue Stream?
The quality of service or advice you get from a large box format store Computer Expert is and I quote from a client "Why by the suite when only the Anti-Virus part expired?" HAH!
Well I shouldn't complain, I did get paid to fix the problem.
