View Full Version : Coffee
Ok,
the Podcast has come out and WHO dont like GOOD coffee.?
I like BOILED coffee.
Coffee is a BEAN, and BEANS need time to open and cook well.
Take your cup/mug/ of water, and pour in in a pot.
I have a 2 cup Mug, and use 1 table spoon of coffee.
Put in the coffee grounds, and set the stove to about medium.
This takes about 5-10 minutes, and just AFTEr it starts a SLOW boil.
I use a general strainer, and I do get some grounds. I strain it into my cup, and AWAY I go...
This can also be called CAMP/hobo coffee. Its VERY strong. You can get a buzz for 6-8 hours.

Sounds like a French Press, without the press. :)
The coffee maker I talked about is awesome if you are ntus enough to drop that kind of money. There is a very similar model, the BT500 that is about half the price (lack the grinder).
It was really tough to say anything about the coffee maker itself since so many factors changed. From (probably) low temp brew to high temp, paper filter to gold tone, whirly blade grinder to burr grinder... supposedly the burr grinder is teh single biggest thing you can do (cheaply) to improve the quality of coffee.
Still, time and time again, people say that french press and vacuum pots make the best coffee. Slap a grinder and a timer on it and I'll get one! Still ya gotta admit this is sexy:
try my suggestion, you might like it, IF you like STRONG coffee...
This is a version of how they make Demitas, which is like Syrup
You dont need a grinder for french press per say. I use a french press at home, and it's awesome (i dont drink coffee very often.) I make vietnamese iced coffee with it, and they taste exactly the same as if you get them at the restaurant.
Pretty much put the ground coffee in the press, screw the lid down tight (the tighter it is the longer it takes to drip the coffee == stronger coffee), then put in the boiling water into the top of it and let it do its thing.
I'll post instructions if you want.

I am using a 4-cup $10 coffee maker at home lol
Right now I am into Seattle's Best coffee. Sometimes I use a little vanilla creamer, sometimes I dont.
Im just not into coffee that much. My main reason is I dont want to rely on it in the morning to wake me up.
Thats correct,
but you can try something. WAIT 1 hour after you get up to have your coffee. It wont bother your system as much.
