This is not very promising. So far I've seen many people that have had legitimate complaints, but very few have sucessfully cancelled. Cancelling you direct debit does not count. the debt collecters will let the balance rollover, and you'll have to pay £1000 at the end of the year. (trust me, I used to work as a debting agent) Thats why I'm reluctent to just cancel my DD. Skills train have lied, and not provided me with the service they were contracted to give me. They should pay backthe finance company the money and cancel my contract as I requested.

Just a quick update. I've been offered a cancellation, providing I sign a statment that specifies that my main reason for cancelling was due to the bbc programme. The letter they sent me is a little confusing. it first states that I have not got the right to cancel on the grounds of the bbc programme but then later cotradicts itself by saying I can only cancel if I use the bbc thing as my CORE reason for cancelling. It seems like there making an exception for my case. I think they may be building up a case against the bbc by getting signatures from ex-students and maybe getting a reimbursement for lost student fees.
The real reason I'm cancelling is due to the fact that I've lost my job and can no longer pay for the course. I was told by my advisor I could cancel at anytime, but when I tried to months later I was told I couldn't. I later found this site and discovered more of there lies and the infamous bbc doc which prompted me to right a second letter, which resulted in my latest response. I'll keep the board posted.

I have finally sucessfully cancelled. Yipeeeee! I have had all my final year of payments waived, still ended up paying out £800 though. But guess what? Skillstrain still get their refund from the marketing company as it looks like Multimedia r taking full responsibility for all the complaints.
