Every month the The Sharper Image has one or two items that they offer for half price with the purchase of any other item. I usually try to pay attention to the special each month because I've gotten some great deals from them in the past. The one item you purchase can be anything. I've actually purchased batteries from them before (because the half price item needed batteries) and the battery purchase counted as my "other purchase" (but that depends on the store you're at.) A couple of months ago I got a nice digital scale to weigh my fat ass for like $20 and took care of Father's Day at the same time.

Anyway, I noticed that in August their half price special is for their Quiet Place Noise-Cancellation headphones (model FJ452). They are normally $70 and this month they are $35. Anyone have any experience with these headphones? Most of the reviews I've found online are user reviews at places like Amazon.com and they're pretty much all positive. But I was hoping to find out something from someone who knows what the hell they're talking about.

Obviously they aren't going to sound like Sennheisers or anything but $35 seems like a good price.

Yes, actually I did. There was one review of them there and the guy initially doesn't seem to care for them but once he actually takes them out and uses them he really seems to like them (he adds an update at the end of the review.)

Since I would be using them in situations like mowing the lawn I'm more interested in his real world experience than when he was just sitting around his home. For casual listening when around the house or in situations where there isn't a lot of noise I plan on using my Koss headphones.

The prices of these types of headphones are all over the board from the $25 range to over $300. I'm assuming there are quality differences which is why I'm curious if anyone has any experience with these. They are normally $70 headphones so do they perform like $70 noise-cancelling headphones?

Maybe I'm missing something. I'm the first to plead ignorance when it comes to headphones, especially noise-cancelling ones. What did you see that made you so sure that I should pass them up?
