I know many have had great success in dealing with Dell when ordering plasma displays. I just thought I would let you know things wont always go so well. Here is my saga.
I heard Dell was offering 10% off their internet price on a Pioneer 503CMX. I surfed the net and saw the price was around $6,200 for a short time from them.
On 01/13/03 I called Dell Sales and spoke to a representative. He sold me the unit for $6,226 and waived the shipping cost. There was also no sales tax.
I then decided to cancel the order a few days later. I checked their website and saw the unit was not scheduled to ship until 01/23/03. I figured no problem in canceling if it had not shipped.
On 01/20/02 I called the sales guy and his voicemail said he would be in at 1 pm that day. I left him two voicemails and an e-mail requesting cancelation and a return call confirming this. He never called that day, nor over the next couple days.
I made several calls to Dell Customer Service and I was told they'd cancel the order and not charge me.
On 01/22/03, I was contacted by Eagle Transportation in Mpls, MN (20 minutes way) and they said they had my Pio on their dock and wanted to drop it off. I told them they should not have it and I REFUSED delivery.
I again called Dell to see what was up. I was again told I would not be charged.
On 01/23/03 the sales guy FINALLY returned my call. He told me no problem, I would not be charged.
On 01/27/03 I received in the mail a letter saying the unit was shipped (no kidding, it was almost here on the 22nd) and that I was being charged $6,917 for it!!!! Not only was I not to be charged in the first place, but they were OVERHARGING me by about $700!!!
Checked my account and sure enough, Dell wacked me for $6,917.
I dang near blew a nut. Called my bank and filed a dispute for my credit card. Also called Dell and got through to someone who could get something done and got the Refund process started. Dell said it would take 30 days....yeah right. At least my bank will give me the $$ right away.
So, a word to the wise. Not all is peachy keen with Dell. I will NEVER buy another item from them, nor will I recommend them to anyone.
Now, on to enjoying the new Fujitsu
