I took delivery (rather my wife did) of a Panny PT-53wx52 from Sears in early January. It was great! I was playing with the buttons, hooking stuff up, having a grand old time. Two weeks later, I'm noticing that a lot of images seem to have a shadow effect. By the end of the evening the picture was out of control; flashing, blinking off, distorted, and there was a clicking sound coming from the unit. I never even got to run Avia on it! I was an unhappy camper. The next day I called the Sears service line. They called me back in an hour or two to schedule service. I was going away on vacation, but I scheduled the service call for the day I got back. The tech said it could be fixed but he'd have to come back in a few days and pick it up to bring into the shop for a couple of weeks!

That was no good.

I called the guy at Sears who sold me the TV and explained the problem. He said to call the delivery confirmation number and tell them I needed an exchange. I called, told them, and scheduled a replacement delivery. No problem.

That was a Friday, I received (my wife did, really) the replacement on Monday!

I figure if you're going to have a rough time with your TV, this is the way to handle it. No argument, no forms, no "wait, i gotta check with my manager".

I'm hoping this unit works out better, but right now, I'm a happy Sears customer.

Looks like a very nice set! I am sorry to hear that you had problems with it when you got it home. Maybe it was damaged when it was being delivered?

What do you think of it so far? It doesn't look like it supports all HDTV resolutions, but it does have a built in line-doubler so the picture should look good.

Also, does it use auto, manual or a combination for the convergence?

lots of places are generaly quite good, its only if something really stupid happens that they "have to talk to their manager"

for instance: ;)

Was bored in wireless, so I went to customer service one fine afternoon to pretty up some returns, this guy was trying to return a TV which worked fine, but once he got it home, he dropped it on the screen and broke it.

guess he shoulda bought some Best Buy installation services ;)

well, he started *****in and threatening people, etc... they finally just ignored him and he left, threatend the manager on demand outside, it was pretty funny.

moral of the story: if you take it home and it dont work, we'll exchange it for ya. If you take it home and break it, well, sucks to be you.
