Widescreen-4:3 Anamorphic

I used PJ Calc to setup my screen using 1.78:1 as the screen type. I.E. High Def. Assuming this was the correct way to set it up, most all of our viewing will be 16x9.

Now my question is, why are the DVD's not fitting? If the DVD cover says widescreen I am assuming that it the 1.78:1 aspect ratio??

I know there is also american widescreen at 1.85:1 but PJ Calc shows that filling the screen minus two inches on the top and bottom, and then there is 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen. What are most DVD formatted as when they say Widescreen.

I assume I can use the RGB size control on the projector to size the image to fill the screen properly, but is this the correct procedure?

Any guidance is appreciated.
