iPod not working

My iPod displays a folder icon with an exclamation point so I followed the instructions given on Apple's web site (http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ip_gettingstarted_t17.html).

I attempted to restore or update the iPod using the iPod updater application. I ran that Update and it prompted me to plug in an iPod. I did, but for some reason it doesn’t register, like it doesn’t know I plugged in the iPod. Therefore, it won’t allow me to click on anything. Now what do I do? :dunno

are you plugging it into the same usb port you used before? can you try another usb port that you know works?

what version of iTunes are you using? Did you download the latest ipod upater? What operating system?

I would take it to an Apple store if you can and have them take a look at it. I think it needs to be reflashed completely.

bummer, Should have started at the source of the problem. Go back to when you bought it and pick up a dell instead. But thats if they still made them. The Dell DJ was awesome....i have had mine for 2 years and it works like new
