“When asked which source provided them with the most accurate news, 29% chose newspapers, 19% chose television, 7% chose the internet and 5% chose magazines.”

Sounds like Europeans do. I would have to agree too.

I think that because the internet is such a personal affair and since anyone can have a website, you have accurate sources mixed in with innaccurate sources. Are bloggers real journalists? No. But can any journalist blog? Yes. People often get confused as to which source is to be trusted I think.

When it comes to print, its such a huge ordeal to obviously produce a magazine, that 9 times out of 10, the information has to be accurate if the publication wants to stay alive. I would argue that the costs to produce a magazine forces that publication to stay faithful in most cases.

People dont have ethics on the web. Traditional print try to have journalistic ethics and efforts to verify accuracy.

To many people on the web just spout off their personal feelings, whether they are right or wrong, and either dont back it up or use another person who believes as they do for their evidence.

I also know that there are certain rules that "real" journalists need to abide by, and I do not see people doing that on the web. But the survey makes sense to me.

I agree with you guys. The vast majority of content is just playing up to people's predetermined biases. Look at Digg. Does anyone really think about Apple, Nintendo, and Linux THAT much that it should dominate a general news site? Hell no. But if it plays up to a fanatical fanbase, you're gold. Rational sites, like any rational opinionated media, dies quickly. People want controversy or a solid pat on the back, not real unbiased information.
