These guys are also A&M, Royal Camera, Digital Liquidators, and other names.

Please reference
http://www.newyork.bbb.org/reports/businessreports.aspx?pid=44&page=1&id=68047

They are located in Brooklyn ,N.Y. Their ads show unbelievably low prices, they throw in tripod, cases, memory card holders, extra memeory cards, film etc. It looked too good to be true and I got screwed by them. They bait-and-switched me and then charged over $300 more on my credit card than was agreed on the phone.

What a cheat business they are. Today, I call Credit card company and dispute charge from them.
Please away from them.

I read some reviews on bwayphoto.com and there were a variety of ratings. Some people loved their service and some said they are HORRIBLE :eww

Any comment?

Do the bad ratings outnumber the good ones?

NEVER and NEVER buy at BWAYPHOTO.COM

The best way is to stay away from those NY Crooks, they are typically in Brooklyn. T

Please read this, one of the Victims
"Liars, fraudulent practices, mean people. That pretty well summarizes B-Way Photo. I'd pegged the camera I wanted for Christmas and told my wife where she could purchase it at the best price. She logged-on and ordered it...so far, so good. She gets a reply message to contact our CR card company to confirm the "Ship To" to a different address. This done, she calls an 800 number to confirm. This is where the problems started. Rep claims camera comes with "...only a 20-minute battery..." Wrong-O Buck-O. Longest battery life on the market. 3 times he asked to "upgrade" the battery. My wife declined 3 times. Guess what? $49.99 "Free Battery Upgrade" in the shipment. And, just like one of the reviewers below, the 16MB memory card that was supposed to be part of "what's included" was missing. This is fraud folks. My phone call to secure a Return Authorization was a customer service nightmare. My request was met with more lies and mean and aggressive attitudes for which the rep tried to blame me. "Customer centric" is not in their lexicon. In fact, it is a foreign language. Tried contacting management to no avail. Have thought of contacting NY AG's office."

Be careful upon reading reviews for this company. They are all FAKE. They are created to throw you off from their old bad reviews and hoping you don't catch them. Read the reviews carefully!

Resellerrating.com has detected 50+ fraudulent "Very Satisfied" reviews for this merchant. They suspended their account and no longer accepting new reviews for Broadway.

I wish I read resellerrating before I placed an online order with them. This company is a scam. Their prices seem great, but it's not worth the hassle of dealing with the scam.

How do these kind of businesses stay open? Wonder why the NYC or the State of New York haven't taken action so far. Could it be that no one thinks to file complaints with law enforcement? Until the law does take action, I guess our job is to make sure the word gets out!

Opps..I searched google and find this picture. I wish I did more research before I made my purchase.

This is the store front of A&M Photo World LLC (AMPhotoWorld.com), a.k.a. Broadway Photo (BwayPhoto.com), and Digital Liquidators (DigitalLiquidators.com)

Yup, just found out myself, wish I would have found this page first. Bwayphoto.com or broadway photo, and also TheDigitalExpo.com both tried to upsell me on batteries and memory cards, even saying that the battery that came with a Sony DSC-W55 only lasts 20 minutes and is not rechargeable.... and then after I nicely refused to buy any accessories - all of a sudden the camera was not in stock. None of the 4 colors. Not for 2-3 weeks..... So I just paid a little more and ordered from B&H photo video, a highly trusted website in my eyes.

Hope this helps someone.

some interesting info here with contact addresses..don't know if its of any use but might be handy if your reporting them to some authority..even if they are from a few years back am sure.. providing their names are legitimate...they should not be to hard to trace for answers who exactly runs what currently in the NY area

I've been buying parts from B&H for several years and I think they're just awesome. They have great prices and great service.

My wife ordered me a Sony Camera for Christmas on Nov 20th. B'Way photo web site indicated that it was in stock. Several days later they called to confirm order and try to sell additional batteries as they claimed battery that was supplied with camera lasted only 20 minutes. My wife said "No" and they hung up.

Two weeks late I called and they said this camera was out of stock (even tho it was listed "In Stock" on the web page. Said it would take 2-4 weeks more.

Waited 2 more weeks and still no camera. Still listed as "In Stock" on Web page. Tried to call...No answer.

Plan on cancelling this camera ASAP. Found same camera $36.00 cheaper at Techondigital.com and plan to re-order there.

Do not Buy at B'Way Photo.....They do not have in stock what they say they do!

Thank God I found this thread...

I ordered a point and shoot camera from these guys four days ago. I got the "please contact us about your order" email shortly thereafter. They wanted to sell me an extended life battery - same story - original battery only lasts for twenty minutes. And then they say, "OK, so if you want the Japanese model, it's $383 (website price) or $399 for the English version." Funny thing is...I can read Japanese just fine, so I consider it. But then I realize, my wife and kids don't read Japanese, so I better get the English version.

So then he says, "OK, that'll be $399.99 plus $24 for insurance and handling, for a total of $423.99."

I said, "The site said free shipping."

He says, "This isn't for shipping - it's insurance and handling."

I thought, "What a bunch of shi+..."

But I couldn't find the camera anywhere else so I said I'd take it.

For the last two days, my account at their website has said:

Your order has been shipped. If you haven't already received an email with a tracking number, you should receive one within the next 12 hours.

I thought, "How could that be...I haven't gotten a tracking number...and my credit card hasn't been charged yet."

So that's when I started getting really suspicious...and started Googling. And I found this forum.

I just called my credit card company. They said, "The charge is pending."

So I said, "Great - cancel it."

They said, "Sorry, we can't cancel a pending charge, you have to wait until it goes through, and then dispute it."

I said, "I'm about to get scammed - and you're telling me you can't cancel the charge, even though it still hasn't been processed yet??"

The girl said sorry. She recommended I talk to the fraud dept. I get the fraud dept. on the phone.

The guy said he can put a 24 hour block on the credit card - but it'll block everything and you won't be able to use the card.

I said, "Fine - but what if they try again in a couple of days?"

He said it shouldn't be able to go through. I wanted to make double sure, so I asked for a longer block. He said he could make it a 30 day block.

I told him to do it.

Those bastards are not getting any of my hard earned money.

Thanks to everyone for posting their complaints. I'm sorry that so many of you were screwed, but airing your troubles and complaints has stopped some people, like me, from purchasing from these fraudsters.

I almost bought a camcorder from bwayphoto.com, but got suspicious when their order site looked exactly like cameraaddict.com. I went through the same problems with them concerning the battery. I felt suspicious from the start and told them to cancel my order immediately and was told they would do so. I'm sure I'll have to watch my credit card for the next several days to be sure that they don't charge it anyways. After my problems with cameraaddict.com, I started looking around to see who was the next cheapest company offering the camcorder I was looking for and stumbled upon bwayphoto.com, which seemed a little better since their site listed out the accessories that were included and it appeared that all was well until I decided to do a little research just before finalizing my purchase. Thanks to this site, I backed out of the purchase before it was too late.

It's worth spending a little extra money with a reputable company to have peace of mind about the purchase.
