I love those kinds of remotes with the touchscreens. I used to really want a Philips Pronto. Hopefully one day someone will make one that is affordable.

I saw the new Philips Pronto RC9800i at CEDIA and thought it looks pretty cool: http://www.homecontrol.philips.com/
Which do you guys think is better, the pronto or harmony?

I wonder how customizable the 1000 will be. I know the Harmony software is really nice, but no where near as robust as what would be needed for Pronto-like control.
That being said, the Philips 9800i is not that great. There is no PC programmability, so you are stuck with whatever limitations exist at the time of purchase. I almost got one about a year ago, but decided against it when I heard that. I'm very happy with my Harmony 720, as you can see by my review.

hmm that means the Pronto I saw at CEDIA was not the 9800i then, because this one did interface with the PC I believe, plus it has a gorgeous screen. Any idea which one it could have been?

They both look sweet to me. The Pronto is half the price ($250) so it gets my uneducated vote. Actually I'm quite shocked that the Pronto is only $250 on Philips online store. I would still hate to spend $250 on a remote control but that's actually approaching reasonable if the thing is as robust as it looks.
