THIS IS MY FIRST POST AND A VERY SIMPLE ONE. I'M ALSO SURE I'M IN THE RIGHT PLACE. I AM BUYING MY SON WHO IS IN HIS FIRST YEAR OF COLLEGE A NOTEBOOK. HE IS A MOVIE DIRECTOR AND SCREENWRITER AND SAYS HE MUST HAVE AN APPLE WHICH IS O.K. WITH ME. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT SOME I YEAR OLD POWERBOOK G4'S WITH A 15 INCH SCREEN CLOCKING IN AT ABOUT 1.67 GHZ WITH 1 GHZ ROM. YOU ALL PROBABLY KNOW THE ONE I'M TALKING ABOUT. ARE THERE ANY ISSUES WITH THIS NOTEBOOK? IS THIS A GOOD INVESTMENT AS FAR AS NOTEBOOKS GO? IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT OR SHOULD I BE LOOKING AT A DIFFERENT MODEL? =THANX FOR ANY HELP!!!! :cheers
Do you have a budget? What is the name of the apple notebook you are looking at (Powerbook or iBook)?
If he is going to be doing video editing, I highly recommend buying one of their new laptops. They are using the Intel chipset, which are not only faster, but they are Dual Core meaning that your laptop essential has two processors. They are great at editing video.
Does he have the video editing software already? What does he plan on using?
Is there a reason you are looking at the G4s?
One other thing, look at how much memory the laptop you are getting for him. The more memory, the better.
