Hi,
We started off 4 years ago with our 1st digital camera a Kodak DX3900 3.1 mp. It has been good to us but now we have children and we are beyond frustrated with the long delay in between taking shots. We have missed so many "kodak moments" because of the delay. We have decided it is time to buy a new digital camera.
We'd love the new Canon Rebel XTi but it is more than we can spend. So we must stay with a digital point & shoot.
I have spent hours reading reviews and I am beyond confused with all the technical language.
Our photos are primarily indoors of the kids, photos of items we list on ebay and we love close up shots.
What is the best camera for our purposes??
I post this on the Canon site since it appears Canon is such a leader in the digital world - but I could be wrong.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks for reading!

What type of price range are you hoping to stay within? Also, is there a mega-pixel requirement?

I really would suggest you get anything by Canon. Simply the best quality pictures I've seen. Nikon are great in the dslr range, but not so hot for point and shoot. Kodak has been on the downswing lately, and Sonys offer consistently ho-hum picture quality. I would look at the powershot sd series and just aim as high as your budget will allow.

I posted in the First heading, its the Fuji 5200...
resonable priced, just below the pro versions...
Dog belongs to my mothers.
Iv taken pics of the moon, saw the craters with this camera.

It has a few design flaws, but nothing bad..Its the Covers for the USB, video...It dont stay put.
DT did a write up of it.

OK, this is a pic of the moon, and a Pic from 20 feet away, with full zoom of news paper... the macro is from 3' or more but with Zoom, you can suck it in Fast.

the real difficulties are,
It has LOTS of settings, but you can tell it the ISO you wish or set for Auto.
Auto can take a few seconds to set itself, they say to take a few pics in your location BEFORE you want your true pics.
Stabilization, there isnt any. YOU have to make sure the camera is stabil.
the book is ALL english, and its abit thick..
scan it, go take pics, Scan it again, take pics, then figure out what you need to know, and look it up.

It has a range of 64-1600 asa/iso...which is cool. you have to set 1600 Manually. If you are a pro at the Old Film camera, you should like this camera.
If I had the money, I would have gotten a few levels up.
but this works very well.

You don't usually associate the name Panasonic with cameras, but their LUMIX line is amazing. I stumbled across one several years ago and used it to photograph my kids as they grew up. I now have the old one plus a newer model. Take a look. You can get good deals online from B&H Photo and others.

I'd recommend this one (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=422513&is=REG&addedTroughType=search).

Or from newegg.com: READ THESE REVIEWS! (http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustratingReview.asp?Item=N82E16830134043)

My wife and I use this one at home: http://reviews.digitaltrends.com/review1967.html (in black) Panasonic DMC-FX7

It has a large LCD display, 5MP resolution and is super tiny. It's no Canon Digital Rebel, but for casual pictures its very nice. Plus the flash recharges very quickly which is a huge deal IMO.
