Ok so at first I was thinking that $200 bucks isn't too bad for an add-on, specifically an HD DVD player. But then I noticed that it has no HDMI output or 1080p support; just 1080i via component video.

I think I will pass for now.

What do you guys think?

Yup. At least the PS3 supports 1080p right? Plus it has HDMI output.

Cnet gave this add-on a 7.5 calling it a good deal. They also gave the Zune a great score. Makes you wonder a little bit eh?

again, welcome back MM! So you got a PS3? I've been thinking of getting one. But, I think I might wait for more games to come out and the price to drop a bit. I can't justify $600 on a gaming system.

I did, however, just pick up an Xbox360 which I'm actually loving. I really like the 360 controllers, the Blade interface, and the online play. I picked up Gears of War and Lost Planet, which are some of the best games I've played for a console. I've never really been into shooters on a console, and these two games have completely changed my perception of playing shooters on a console.

As for the HD DVD player for the Xbox360, not having a HDMI hookup just sucks. But, I'm willing to be that MS will eventually release it when they think there will be a demand for it. I'm sure it will be as easy as just releasing a new cable for the Xbox360.
