If I could get a discount on the new Oppo Digital DV-981HD DVD player for you guys, would you be interested in it? I have one at home and I love it.
Here is a link to it: http://news.digitaltrends.com/article11862.html
Let me know. If I get enough people posting in here, I will call them up and ask. :vivi
Nice, but I got a Phillips, Divx...
If this had a Hard drive or computer input, I might consider it.

I would probably jump on it because of all the good things I've heard about their other players, the DVD-A/SACD playback, and ... aw wait. My TV doesn't have hdmi. Poop. Why the hdmi and no component? Grr... I'm not planning of overhauling my HT for another year. If my 'rents finally do their living room, I'll get one for them, though. So I guess I'm back in.
I would love a Resonable system that would let me send comp video to my TV.. but they are to expencive. I have alot of 'Interesting" movies I have collected, and the Philips has done me Alot of good.

Do you have a DVI input? You can always use an adapter. No idea why they dropped the component video, probably because they wanted to eliminate the confusion and say it will output to 1080p period. Rather than saying its 1080P on the HDMI, but not the component. No clue really, I love the player though.
I like the Oppo, but I like this one better:
Neodigits H4000 (http://www.neodigits.com/new/body/products/h4000/h4000.asp)
You can find the H4000 online for $150 or less, and it upscales to HDMI or COMPONENT.

The H4000 is nice. I am currently reviewing it, but prefer the new Oppo 981H due to it's Faroudja chip, smoother upscaling. I also feel like the remote on the Neodigits has bad IR range.
I can tell you that while at CES I had dinner with some Dolby executives, and they were all raving about the Oppo too. A lot of journalists specializing in home theater have been raving about the Oppo too.
Not really arguing against the Oppo. As I said, I like it. It's sales and reviews speak volumes. But I think the H4000 could be a safer purchase for some, due to the varied outputs. If you know you can stick with HDMI, the Oppo's a great fit. But if you have a bunch of component stuff around (I do), or even some VGA/RGB stuff (I do), the H4000 fits the need.
BTW, yes, I'd be interested in a 'deeply' discounted Oppo 981.
