DVDdangerous

I purchased a LG Super multi combo drive, GSA-E10L. It's driving me crazy.
I get a blue screen which says, "bad_pool_header".
I've been online with THREE Dell techies.
One suggested check USB emulation.
Another suggested disconnect printer; my printer was conflicting with the device.
Another took me around the world in my sys...no luck. B-S-O-D!!!!!!!!!!
I had also installed a Seagate 160gb ext. the day before installing this burner. The ext. didn't work, either....spontaneous reboots, checkdisks, etc. I uninstalled this, and returned it. I managed to get one DVD burned before the burner, too, went haywire.
I suspect my burner problems have something to do with removing the external. What do you think?
Please help...XP home, sp2, pentium 4; USB devices: Epson Perfection v100 scanner, HP All-In-One (scanner not working).
