Think this is the right place, my dvd writer

Hey, like 2 1/2 years ago my brother built my current computer, which he had for about a year, and then sold it to me. And i have been trying hrd recently to be able to burn DVDs from files on my computer and i think i have found out how, but i still am getting errors, and i suspect my brother didnt put in the DVD Writer successfully, and was wondering how would i go about verifying that? It opens and closes correctly, the little green light flickers correctly and all, but it seems kind of unresponsive when i put a game cd/music cd/ dvd in..but my 2nd drive works fine. How do i go about proving my theory? Any suggestions helpful.

Looks like its time for a replacement drive. Maybe try cleaning it out with canned air? Otherwise the laser might be knocked off axis.

It wasnt his drive, he was looking for a program.
