I've had the Fuji S5000 for a couple of years now, which is a couple of generations behind the S5200. I really like the S5000 as well. Takes great pics. There are a couple of things that could have been better but I think most of those were addressed with the S5100 that replaced mine and the S5200 that replaced the S5100.
My biggest complaint as it ages is that whatever internal memory and battery combination that maintained the time/date and all my settings has failed. So everytime I replace my bateries, which is often, I have to reset the date and time and my custom settings. The biggest issue with it is that it defaults to 1MP pictures. It is not uncommon for me to set the date and time (because it promps you to do it) but forget to change the resolution. It's aggivating because in my opinion it should default to the highest resolution. Who spends that kind of money to take 1MP pictures?
My son's 3rd birthday party is all 1MP. Totally ticked me off.
As for the "hot products", liked the article. I wish my fav the Squeezebox would have made the "connected home sound" list but I understand the Sonos is a great product.

Please comment on the Talk Back article too guys. Hopefully more readers will post when they see your comments.
I like the 5200, its the 5600 in Euro.
BUT, I had to call fuji for a question.
There are 2 types of Ram in XD...the M and H format.
In M format I can use upto 2 gig, and 1 gig in H...
the MAIN diff, is the H saves pics, about 1/4 the time, and is the Pro version.
I dont mind the 4 AA batteries..BUT I LOVe alkiline batteries in it.
I am looking at a AA Battery conditioner for Alkie batteries...

If you know batteries, you KNOW you want the conditioner.

NICe recharger, does them all.
how many pictures do you get out of using AA batteries in a camera? I avoid cameras where I need to use AA instead of a rechargeable battery.

Mine takes quite a few and reviewers generally gave the S5000 high marks for battery life. That said, you can certainly burn through some batteries. I would have a hard time guessing how many pictures.
I went to Sam's and bought a set of Energizer rechargeable NiMH batteries that came with several sets of AA and a small charger. I just always have a set charged on stand by. I get more pics out of the a fully charged set of the rechargeables than regular non-rechareable alkalines. It would be nice though if the S5000 could actually charge the batteries so I don't have to carry a charger with me when I travel. I don't know much about batteries though (I don't even know what the "conditioner" ECA was referring to is).
The up side to having it run off of AA batteries is if you are out somewhere and your rechargeables do run out of juice you can just buy a set of AA batteries and pop them in. If it ran off of something other than AA you would just be out of luck until you could plug your camera in to recharge.
From my experience most cameras that come with their own proprietary rechargable battery typically need to have the battery charged through a charger as well and not via the camera itself, so you'd have to carry the recharger as well. :(
well,
150+ with alkie, batteries...depends on flash or not...
It also has a 5 volt plug on side to run, or charge(I think)

According to my manual the 5v power supply only powers the camera and does not charge the batteries. Since your model is newer it may be different.

Those are nice pics. I mostly take "family" pics so I don't have anything that "breathtaking" and I doubt I could take a picture like that if I tried but it does take very good photos even if you are a novice like me.
Like these??
Iv done a few weddings, and been lucky with film and a decent sun.
