ECA
01-01-2007, 12:19 AM
well, there only 2 major cotps that supply them...
MOST will let you elet the OLDER drivers...
Tell me which you have and I should be able to direct you, or you can find it yourself.

ECA

sorry. tell me what and which card you have and I will direct you to the Older driver,,,OR you can do it yourself.

Marc322

ECA

Hit Start, RUN, they type DXDIAG..
It will open and show you your version and your system info, and will test all equipment.
You can even Manually test them.
Current version is 9.0c and there is no EASY way to remove it.

SOME games dont like Win 2000 or XP, when you get past DX 8.1. thats why I wanted to know the game title.
MOST games have a selector for GRPHICS...DX or openGL..
OPENGL is NOt supported after 2002, or by DX 9.0+

its DirectX 9.0C and the direct draw tests were good but i got this error in the box on the bottom

The system is using the generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.
DirectDraw test results: All tests were successful.
Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer.

Ummm,
OK...
ON THE DISPLAY, NO ICONS...Right click
properties
TAB, settings.
Advanced..
Adaptor TAB.
READ IT
THEN this is diff for many cards...Properties..
TAB, drivers
THIs SHOULD give you the version number, and NOT the bios...
But its NICe to have both, IF' you need them.

Awww...you lost your driver

Is this a dell, HP, compaq, or other NAME brand...?
Model Number and MAKE name...

IF its a clone based machine...READ MY SIG...
THIs is a pain in the bottom.
Hit start, control panel...SWITCH the display on the TOP LEFT to CLASSIC...
Look for anything that says ATI or Nvidia...
Good LUCK.

Looks like someone did a reinstall and didnt inclyde the drivers, or they Bumped off.
BESt bet IF you cant find what I mentioned is to find a computer nerd around you that is will to OPEN the system and look.

Thought I would chime in here. It looks like there is something wonky with your vifeo driver. Laptops can have one of several dozen graphics cards, so just because it work on another computer, doesn't necessarily mean it will work on yours. It looks like, by what ECA found, you have a bottom of the barrel graphics chip, the onboard Intel type. First, go download any available updates for XP (in Internet Explorer - Tools-> Windows Update) Choose the custom option and make sure you get anything available. Then, go to Toshiba's driver download site and and make sure there is nothing new there (I'm not sure about Toshiba, but most manufacturers have an application to update their system specific drivers and applications. If you have one, use it) Try the game again. If that doesn't work, try setting you screen resolution to 800x600 (right click the desktop -> properties -> settings). Try again. Finally, sometimes you can get that DirectDraw error if you regularly dock the laptop with an external monitor and have the external monitor set to be the 'primary' monitor. If you have an external monitor attached, try using only the laptop screen. If not, make sure that in the same screen where you set teh monitor resolution, the "Use this an my primary monitor" is checked (it will be grayed out, but should still have a check in the box).

Hopefully that helps a little.

NK,
I looked up the unit on toshiba, and there was no video driver, so I looked it up on the OPTIONS for his laptop...
Went to the intel site and there are 2 in that family. Toshiba is using the Original driver..

Marc, If you have high speed access, DO the windows UPDATEs...PLEASE... NONE of the hardware ones...Just windows.
