There are many different types of musics which can differ from many languages. So there is no really latest trends in the music industry. For me, I think some of the latest trends of musics are Rock, R&B and Jaze. These are just some latest trends of music for this generation from my view. Musics produced from Bands such as Linken Park(forgav me for spelling wrongly) can be counted as one of the latest trends of musics. For musics from other countries can be Jay Chou from Taiwan, and Rain from Korea(or maybe Japan.. I forgot). Thus, there is no really latest trends of music. It usually depends on individual countries to see what music is the hottest in the country.

Well said White Eagle.
It does look like some of the old school rock sound is coming back from what I have noticed. Wolf Mother is a good example of that. Grunge alternative doesn't seem to be as popular from what I can tell. Electronica is picking up popularity at long last too.

I see...The trends for music type definitely differ in different countries.Like in the US,country, hip hop and pop rule. While in France, maybe classical music is more popular. But i feel the latest trends in the music industry are it is heading online like selling records online.
I have to agree with White Eagle8 ... depends on the country. I'm originally from UK, but having lived in Canada for 7 years have been exposed to country (both rock & "typical") on a daily basis, along with Bluegrass. Neither of which I ever heard of in UK. So in Canada, the trend seems to be rock/country in the area that I live in. Gimme some Blues!!

Concerning today's rock&metal music we should mention Gothic-rock. Many top bands become goth-like and their music changes as a function of industry! Fresh example - Therion.
