We are all down in Las Vegas, Nevada this week to cover CES 2007. The show is not officially open today, but the initial keynote by Bill Gates, along with various press conferences happened today.

We are putting together some video that we'll be putting up tonight and over the next coming days of not only the keynote, but of some hilights of the press conferences and show floor coverage.

But, as a teaser, here are some pictures I took personally on my small little sony digital camera.

Windows Home Server
Microsoft announced Windows Home Server. The first manufacturer to release a product will be HP, which is pictured below. A quick summary is that Windows Home Server will not only backup data from all Vista PCs on your network, but that it can store and server up media and data files from within your house and remotely.

Yup, you heard right. Several manufacturers are introducing wireless HDMI from a receiver to your TV. No more cables!

The picture below is Philips announcement for their Wireless HDMI. However, not much information was given, so it seems that the product is still in development. I could be wrong, and as we get more information I'll update this post.

Samsung has also announced, although with very little information as well during the press conference, wireless HDMI. They are integrating a whole range of product that will work wirelessly together.

As we get more information, we'll update this post.

Philips announced their one millionth ambilight, and to celebrate it they adorned it in diamonds from De Beers. A little over-the-top? Yes, but I like to see some extravagance every now and then.

I'll have to join you guys next year! The Home server idea is great! I only worry that for middle-range people like me - out of dorms and small apartments, but not in a house - the additional electricity is a little annoying. I have so many gadgets that every time I turn on my TV the lights dim a little! I can only vacuum if I use the bathroom outlet!

The highlights from the Microsoft keynote are up on the video section (http://media.digitaltrends.com/). The flash versions are still uploading but should be done in 30 min or so.
