I have a Hifonics BXi 1606D Brutus Series Class D Monoblock Amplifier connected to 2 Kicker L7's. Lately my amp has been blowing out my fuse. I turn on my car and my amp and cd player turn on. But after 5 seconds the LED lights slowly turn off. As the amp turns off the fuse blows out too. Then the amp gets really hot. This began after I connected the bass knob but then I disconnected and changed the fuse and the same thing happened again. So I dont know or have an idea of what could the problem be. Any suggestions???

It's either overheating for some reason (internal fan blown) or it's not wired correctly.

Hey Player069,

I used to dabble a bit in car audio so I'll throw a few ideas out there for you to try. Let's start with the obvious:

1. Check your ground from your amp, bass, everything and make sure the vehicle is properly grounded.

2. Check your hot. Even if you have a single wire that's crossing over or touching another connection in a way it shouldnt; weird things can start to happen. That's an easy way to kill a few fuses

3. Check your RCA cables to make sure that they are protected and havent been pinched and could be touching someplace where you hot or ground are connected to.

The Hifonics BXi 1606D amp you have is a mono amp, but your running 2 Kicker L7's. might suggest that you should either A. get another amp to run the other speaker or B. Only hook up one speaker. If your running 2 leads off the amp, make sure you run a really good ground, you will only need one.

Check your Ohm's rating, you may be slugging your amp, or however you have the power split could be impeding everything.

I hope that some of this helps! Good luck.
