Ok my roomies and I are in the market for a dedicated console system. We have ruled out the game cube (no offense intended to the nintendo fans, I remember my roots...hehe). So which one to choose from? PS2 has the largest assortment of games, but Xbox has some pretty bad ass ones. The DVD feature on both is not an issue as we already have a nice DVD player. So which one?

Thanks in advance for the advice...

I vote Xbox also. I dislike Sony as a company more than M$.

As far as games go, PS2 has more of them and better games in my opinion. As far as potential, Xbox is the way to go. I own an Xbox and a Gamecube and I am wishing I had a PS2.

The PS2 has:

Rygar (worth buying the system for)
Shinobi
Contra
Rachet and Clank
Maximo
and like 100 awsome RPG games.

Xbox has:
Halo
Phantasy Star Online
Mechassault
Xbox Live
Panzar Dragoon
Gun Valkyrie
JetSet Radio Future

Gamecube has:
Star Fox Adventures
Phantasy Star Online
Metroid....enough said, worth buying the system alone for this game

Be like me and buy them all....you should be able to get them used for hella cheap :D

Oh yeah Rogue Leader....another Lucas Arts franchise game....yay!

Sucks but.

Knights of the Old Republic for the Xbox looks cool. Its an RPG and is developed by Bioware, so you know it has to be good. BTW, you should be able to get Rogue Leader for hella cheap too.

Anyone try Mario Sunshine? Any good?

Mario sunshine is fun for single player game.

Go xbox dude. The new mod chips for it ROCK. Not only are they cheap, but they are pack full of features.

I know people who have had them installed from XboxModChips.net (http://www.xboxmodchips.net/install.html).

This guy will also install a larger hardrive, a better dvd-player (some of the xbox's dvd players wont read burned dvd), etc.

With these mod chips, you can enable/disable them (so you can still play XBOX Live), you can load other types of bios (for example, you can load SNES emulators and crap), you can take an xbox game cd and rip it onto the hard drive and play it off the hard drive. You can convert an xbox game into an iso file, put it on the xbox hard drive and play it off the hd, and the list of features goes on and on.

I played Mario Sunshine in the supermarket for 5 minutes. It seemed like a minor distraction. Metroid and Zelda is what I really want.

I can wait on Xbox and Halo. Modding sounds kinda fun tho.

BB has cube on sale for 150$ + Metriod for free. I am SOOO tempted esp since the money is in the bank. F&@*ing CC Billz + School Loan > what i am paid at BS job.
