In a recent interview with John Romero, co-founder of id Software and creator of the "Doom" series he says this: "My prediction is that the game console in the vein of the PS3 and XBOX 360 is going to either undergo a massive rethink or go away altogether. The Wii has the perfect design for a console that doesn’t pretend to be a PC..."

While I like the Wii, I don't think the PS3 or 360 are going anywhere. Is this guy an idiot or what?

I agree,
MS and Sony, are trying to gain Distribution, Sales, and Full control over programming and control of their machine...
What MADE the C64 the most programmed machine with the most games EVER sold... 2 other companies programmed it... Activision had so many games for it, that Commodore TRIEd to sue..
the Wii, is the SAME way... They let ANYONE play with the machine and HAVE FUN. They didnt LOCK the thing up, and MAKE you wait for MS/SONY to make a decent program for it.

I think he's forgetting that everybody loved the PS2/Xbox because they are easier to play then a PC game for most people.

consoles are the computer that you DONT need to configure, or Think about, or worry much about. It just works and DOES its thing.
What would scare most of the world...Is if someone Accually MADE a virus for them.
Considering that MS had a LONG standing virus, installed by one of the programmers and Forgotten, until 5 years later...
IT COULD happen..
Also considering that There are NO AV programs for Either console...We cant say there ISNT one already out there. Made on purpose, or meliciously.

that could be nasty if it ever happened. The standard norm is to run a final build through anti-virus software before it's shipped to production.

I think the likelihood is very very slim, along with the fact that Microsoft, I'm sure, has some type of check (Md5 or something) in place to make sure an installer is kosher.

Isn't this the bozo that bet millions that his game Daikatana would be the best FPS out there and it flopped hardcore?

You know, reading about it. The hero of the game is someone named Hiro Miyamoto. They try to recover a daikatana traveling to different places and times. Doesn't this sound a lot like Hiro in Heroes the TV show?
