hi everyone i am new to this forum and i have a few questions that i hope somebody can answer.
i love macs and everything about them and i want the iphone but i am in australia and it doesnt come here untill march 2008

but i cant wait that long i want it when it comes out.

1 will it be compatible in australia i know it has quad band but does it just use a normal sim card? i dont care if i cannot connect to the net yet cause i will not go with telstra.

2 Will i be able to get it shipped out if i buy from apple direct or will i have to wait for them to end up on ebay?

If anybody can answer these questions i would be in your debt.

many thanks

Curtis

hi Curtis,

I'm a apple iPhone fan like you. As far as I know you can't use iPhone in Australia, because iPhone doesn't support a normal sim card at all.

personally I begin to have doubts concerning iPhone purchase. Apple is preventing customers from installing 3rd party apps. Recently the patch was released and iPhones with unauthorised soft installed became totally useless :smack

Helmet,

True, they are blocking them now. However, they have come out and said that at the beginning of the new year they will support 3rd party applications. My guess is they want the new Mac OS X to ship (on friday this week!) before they focus on allowing the 3rd party apps.

I've also heard that the phones in Europe are unlocked.

See the following articles:
Apple Confirms iPhone SDK Coming Next Year (http://news.digitaltrends.com/news/story/14517/apple_confirms_iphone_sdk_coming_next_year)
Orange Officially Gets iPhone in France (http://news.digitaltrends.com/news/story/14500/orange_officially_gets_iphone_in_france) (read the last 2 paragraphs)

Apparently, because of French law Orange will have to offer the iPhone unlocked!
