Apparently this is the laptop memory information in this particular laptop.
pc2100s-25330-a0
256MB DDC PC2100 CL2.5
Samsung
M470L3224DT0-CB0 (part number)
You should be able to find it on eBay or other auction stores for relatively cheap.

Tis true. I was surprised to find a samsung branded chip in a retail system. I bought another 256 of Kbyte memory. Works okay, but I think i might get a matching samsung chip.

The sweet thing about the VPR systems is that they are not afraid to mention what brand parts they are using, and the parts are good quality too. Like an IBM hard drive, Geforce graphics, Mitsumi CD-RW drive (I wish it was another brand though) and Samsung memory. I also heard that the monitor is manufacturered by the same company that makes the Apple displays.

Yeah the display is the exact same thing as the 15" Powerbook. They've been getting all their LCDs from Samsung for a long time so it would make sense that the LCD in the VPR is from them also. Screens are weird....both CRTs and LCDs are really only made by a handful of companies and all the others just put their own packaging around them.

open up your laptop and take a look! I think the 200A5 has a door specifically for the memory modules. Mine is in the shop, but I will look when I get a chance.

Whoops. Should have been more clear. I ment to say, where do they mention the parts they use? I know for a fact its samsung because I saw it myself, but I havent seen them advertise that they use these parts.
I love this skit.

Most of us get the info from opening up our computers and taking a look around. You can also find out quite a bit from the drivers sometimes. But generally VPR hasn't been real detailed about what's actually in the computer beyond the basic components like video, cpu, etc. So basically it's like one big adventure. Wheeeeeeeee!! Heh.
I found out the WiFi card was a NEC by opening my case on the bottom, writing down ALL of the various product numbers, then doing google searches one by one til I got some hits. I don't know about my ram, but the ram in my previous 200A5 wasn't branded Samsung. This new machine I'm not sure about since I haven't opened 'er up.

IOMAN: If you are going to rip info off other forums you should give proper credit (i.e. - fatwallet.com, anandtech.com, infoarena.com)
This exact post regarding the memory came from the VPR Matrix forums at http://www.infoarena.com/vprmatrix/forum
It's fine to get info from other sources, just make sure and say something like "Ripped from Fatwallet" or whatever...

hmmm sorry for doing research before posting. I didn't feel a need to quote a site where I found some information, because I did not write a paragraph or borrow a particulr phrase. I just listed the memory module information the way I found it. Sorry if I offended you.
Peace :)

Yeah Ioman. I noticed you used the word "Samsung" as well. And after a quick search on the net, I realized you stole it from like a bajillion sites. Shame!

You will just have to make this forum cooler. Maybe... give out free VPR's to all your members.
