Help with my sound volume

Here is a stumper. For some reason my audio is cranked all the way up when starting the computer even though the volume bar is in the middle range. And when I use the keyboard to lower the volume it is already low, so why does it blast when the computer starts? It only started doing this when I installed my soundblaster Audigy.

if your running something like Real Player or Kazaa try turning that down....

Hey, I have the same exact problem and a SoundBlaster Audigy. The stupid sounblaster splash window comes up abnormaly loud but when I check the volume its set normal. It makes my wife really mad too. I wonder what is causing it? Maybe a mismatch between the OSes Volume control and the Soundblaster Audigy's sound mixer volume controls? Maybe they are not synched up right away.

Stupid question, but...

Did you plug the speakers in the line-out or amplified out? Make a BIG difference...

Or open the sound control panel and check your system volume versus your WAVE volume.

Some applications only effect WAVE volume while others will effect the system volume.
