The volume on DVD playback is very low even with maximum settings. Is it PowerDVD? The bells n whistles from WinXP is much louder. Any suggestions?

if you are using winDVD, go into step-video- and enable hardware decode and hardware video acceleration. it will increase your volume... "magically".

NVDVD is noticably louder in DVD playback then PowerDVD that came with my 200A5 on the laptop speakers. I have not tried it yet with external speakers.

WTF? i'd go rampage over at BB, unless you live in a (small) (mid) town USA, i'd think they will have a pretty nice turn over rate. why don't you give them a call and get the real deal on this holyfield.

Dude, I have been calling them EVERY day and the answer is the same "we are waiting for parts". I have screamed at everyone and they are not doing a thing to speed things up. Did I mention I have only had the laptop for 2 months, 1 of which it has been in the shop. It is my fault that it is busted in the first place, so I can't complain can I? If it was their fault I would be bringing god thunder down on them so to speak.

I just picked up NVDVD and started playing with it. Nice little program and I'm loving the minimal skin without all the big obtrusive buttons and crap. The sound volume is acceptably high I would say, definitely better than PowerDVD.

The visual quality I would rate as a 6 betwee 1-10 (10 being the best). It seems like WinDVD (I have version 3) has the best software decoder for video and even that only rates a 7 or so in my book. Maybe I'm just spoiled though, since I usually watch dvds on a home theater system with a really nice DVD player.

Overall I'd say NVDVD is worth the money though. Seems like a nice addition to the computer even if it can be buggy at times.

One other thing I noticed about NVDVD that I don't like is that the front panel buttons on my 200A5 don't work with the DVD. However, with WinDVD I can use play/pause, forward, and back, to skip ahead and do whatever with the DVD. Just a small thing, but annoying none the less.

when using powerDVD, here is a tip to bring the volume up to a decent level:

-go to configuration
- select audio
- select stereo
- go to advanced
- choose noisy envrionment
- check the enable LFE box
