I have a question about WMP version 10, and Microsoft's support site is a mess, so I decided to try an outside source. Anyway, I currently have version 10 installed, but every time I open it, it says "to get WMP 11 your copy of Windows must be validated" and every time I try, it says it can't be validated. This PC was custom built so I don't actually have the Windows XP installation disk or anything like that. Is there any way to get this to stop? I don't want to upgrade to WMP 11 in the first place, but it won't even let me use WMP 10 now.

1. have you ever used windows UPDATE...TRY it...It should validate your sytem..IF NOT...
2. MANy companies have installed Pirated versions of windows...to SAVE MONEY, or to make MORE money for charging WHAt they didnt put on.

Yikes this doesn't sound good. It sounds like you have an illegal copy of Windows on your PC which sucks because you will not be able to update the OS or get new patches.

I am afraid that you are stuck until you get your OS validated....

GRAY area...Very DARK..
Is the idea that you can CHANGE the # in windows.

2 choices...
Find a lawyer FIRST, and then contact MS and ASK to buy a KEY to make your version OK, or if you need to buy a OEM version. ITS a pain starting from Scratch..
Look up a friend that has the Version you have and Borrow a KEY. HAS yo be the SAME version. Home, Pro, MEDIA, all have different key codes.
