What is the most reliable and the fastest CD burner on the market right now?

Plextor and TDK make the best burners.
We actually reviewed Plextor's latest offering, the 40/12/40A. You can read that article here (http://www.designtechnica.com/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=22).
TDK's latest is the 48/24/48, which we haven't reviewed. You can get more info on that from tdk.com (http://www.tdk.com/cdburners/velocd48x.html).

Plextors are indisputably the best. And since TDK VeloCD's are essentially re-badged Plextors, you're in good shape with them as well.

They are not all rebadged Plextors, some are Yamaha and Lite-on drives....or at least thats what my contact there says.:D
Remeber to look for Current tech in them, such as "Burn proof". Its a tech to ALMOST guarentee a Burn.(alot Less coasters)
And speed aint always the best for copying.
as well as Dont forget the Professional Versions. They cost about 3-4x as much, but are great.
almost any drive above 24x should have burn proof or else it wont be able to burn at those speeds.

I notice the expensive drives use Sanyo's burn proof technology. The cheaper drives use 8 mb buffers for the most part.

I talked to Nyogi online last night, for some reason when he went to post, it would ask him to login, but it would show him as a guest. I showed him how to login off the main forum page, so everything is ok.

Well, Dell is using them in their systems, so they must at least be reliable right!?

LiteOn and LG suck, dont even bother.
For CD Burners there is only one name: Plextor
For giving money freely to people, again only one word: Archon

I use a plextor drive at work and a LiteOn at home. I would take my LiteOn over the plextor any day. LiteOn makes great burners. They are fast and reliable. I am verry happy with my black 52X24X52 drive. It is the cheapest drive (pricewise) and has top quality that rivals that of plextor. Anyone who says LiteOn sucks probably has never used one, or if they have they set it up wrong. I used to think they sucked too and that plextor was the only good drive, untill I used LiteOn. Plextor makes great drives, but LiteOn makes drives that are just as good (if not better) and at a fraction of the price.

I like TDK better than Plextor. Plextor drives feel heavy and clunky to me.
