This is a great deal but why not have a large internal drive and a small pocket sized external drive like the LaCie pocket drive for movable storage? These large external drives are physically large in size and not as easy to move as you would like to think.

heh, maybe but no firewire on my rig =)
Actually, they aren't that bad. Nothing in size like an external cd-rom drive.
I have a firewire drive at work and its only slightly larger then the physical size of the drive.
Just got an 80GB ATA133 drive today for $100 bucks from a local mom&pop store. w00t!

So would firewire be faster than serial ATA? What are the data specs?
I still say and suggest that you get more then 1 drive.
1 drive for OS alone, and if its a LARGE drive partition it to 2 drives, 1 for os and 1 for progs.
A second drive for progs and storage/data.
REALLY. haveing 1 drive and to have it FAIL will Piss you off so much. You may kill your comp. Recovering all that data/progs and OS would make you so mad.
Keep about 2-4 gigs extra for Windows OS.
