Well my laptop has been at Best Buy for 3 weeks tomorrow and they still or not finished with it yet...depressing waiting. All they had to do was fix the network port..:(

was that just with the normal warranty? or PSP?

I hope you get it back soon, too.

That was with the extended warranty. Thanks for the happy wishes.

Talk About Quality Control.

They wouldn't give you a new notebook for that, huh?

Are they replacing it themselves or did they send it out?

That sucks! I hope you get it back soon.

Well, I don't know if Ioman's broken network port can be totally blamed on quality control. I mean hell, he did yank on the cord and force the plug out even after it had expanded from the heat of his computer and gotten stuck. Hehe.

Speaking of which, I've noticed that if you turn off the computer and wait as little as 2 minutes the plugs come out a lot easier.

Well I waited about 10 minutes before taking it out and it was still too hot. I had to leave to make my flight....guess I learned my lesson eh!?:)

at least all of will take more precaution with the port...

i've been using the laptop constantly..but mine doesn't get hot near the network port... hottest parts is under the memory bank.

People do stuff to their......stuff.

there is no reason for BB to hold the lappy for 3 long weeks just to fix a small broken port.

its Silly...

3 weeks?
I don't see why you should tolerate bestbuy, IOMAN

Something is wrong with you

I'm suprised they took it back, I would imagine "missing network port, Reason: ripped out." wouldnt be considered "wear and tear"

Is your laptop under 1 year old?
If so next time it needs service, I would call VPR and they will send you a box via next day air to ship it back to them.
Turn around time is 3-5 days.
If you have the extended service plan, save the paper work and the repairs will work toward the no lemon replacement.
I have taken my Compaq laptop to a local dealer and Best Buy accepted this toward the lemon warranty.
They did have to send it to there service center to verify the repairs.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This seems pretty bizarre. Have they sent you any confirmation that they even received the notebook? Maybe it was lost. And if they sent you confirmation of that, have they bothered to tell you what course of action they were going to take with the broken port (replace it, give you a new puter, etc)?

If you were me, and you're not obviously, I would be over at Best Buy raising so much hell they would give me TWO new computers. Haha. In all seriousness though, I think it's time to take back the streets (so to speak) and them to get their asses in gear.

Rule of thumb when dealing with Best Buy (or any retail): Deal with managers only, get their FULL name, some sort of employee number, get everything in writing, and call frequently. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and while it might seem cheap to whine or make a scene, no one knows you personally so who cares what they think of you.

That's my motto anyways. Hehe.

Another wonderful example of why buying a computer from BB blows. Extended Service plans are a joke, that is where they make all their money. 90% of the time you don't need it and the 10% of the time you do it is not worth the hassle.
