All the cult-like features of owning a macintosh, without the cache' of actually owning one. Oof, damn wintel notebooks! I have had no less than 3 people I work with say, "ooh! is that one of those awesome new powerbooks from the commercials?!" To which I respond, "no, it's a blah blah blah." And so far all 3 of them have said, "oh, ok well, I guess it's nice" and wandered off.

I felt so used, so dirty. I felt like the local kid who thought his KalicoVision system was cool as **** compared to the Atari. Now imagine that the kid also has leprecy. That's how I felt.

I went to the BestBuy near my house and they have two of the 200A's in stock, of course the price was ridculous 1599 or something with only a 100 MIR. How much did all our vistors/VPR owners get theirs for? Under a grand if I remember right.

I believe the lowest price any of us paid was by someone who bought a 200A5 open box for $1300. The next lowest is me, I think, and I paid $1500. After that the bulk of us seem to have paid around $1900. Keep in mind the computer was $2400 just 2 months ago.

The close-to or sub $1000 prices are for the lower end notebooks, either the cheaper widescreen or the non-widescreen models. I think most people would be happy to get the 200A5 for $1500 considering what you walk away with, even now with the 200A5 on the out.

Realize, I have been into the under belly of sociaty.
Had a few friends that have done it.

Ever read WHAT the SS# is. You can tell WHEN a person was born, and from WHARE, and a few other neet things.
Also, ALOT of companies dont even look them up. If you are close(as lots of persons forget there #) to the SS# and the Name is in the credit report, THEY DONT CARE.
