Anyone played the game yet? Initial thoughts? I'd like to pick up a copy, but I haven't heard a thing about the multiplayer experience. I have a friend who is assuming that when he gets the cell phone he'll be able to.

Our own Scott Steinberg can been seen talking about GTA4 here:

Alright, so I couldnt wait. I picked up a copy of GTA4 at lunch at Best Buy. What was cooler than finding about 3000 copies still in stock, was that they gave me a $10.00 gift cert for buying from them.

Anyways, I can't wait to play the game, it comes with a huge full sized, fully detailed map of the city and a Liberty City guidebook. Should be cool.

I like the game, it has very good graphics, the map itself is so huge, it's like your in a real city. It's a great improvement over the previous versions and its clear that the producers double and triple checked everything before releasing this game. All of the reviewers out there are giving it a 10. I don't know that I would go that far, but it is a must own game and will certainly take up a few months of your time to get thru it entirely. It's so deep that your certain to be entertained for a long time finding new things to do and explore. I don't know if it will ever replace my favorite game COD4, but its definitely going to be fun to explore Liberty City! Go get it, if you liked any of the previous versions, you will be happy. Remember Best Buy is giving a $10 gift cert when you buy it from them ($59.99)

I am excited about this game more than I probably should be. GTA3 was the first game I bought when I got a PS2 (I was a late adopter), and was totally hooked. I looove Crackdown, and sandbox games, too. The coolest thing I've seen, and I totally recommend everyone taking a peek, is the recent 1up video podcast review of GTA IV where they talk about it more as a simulation, and all the nuances. Things like when you slowly nudge into people with your car, the react appropriately, etc.

I have a ton of work to do over the next few weeks, so I am forbidding myself from getting it. I know that when I do finally take the plunge it will take up way too much time. I generally don't fall for the hype, but in this case I think it will be completely worthy of all the press.
