Is it just me or does the writer of this article have a complex? Readers are the reason why you are in business...try to answer as many e-mails as you can, be as polite as possible. You do not need to answer all of the e-mails just as many as you can. Refer people to the forums where others can answer their questions.

But in no way show a negative attitude to your readers no matter how "silly" you think their questions are. Treat your readers like gold at all costs, because they are the reason why you are in business.

For those of you who do not know, we will not post news linking to Explosive Hardware. I do not trust their articles or reviews and I do not care for their management. No one is qualified and I do not think most of them are over the age of 16....

The guy's *****ing about 100 emails a day, half of which being spam oh my gosh... I mean, ****... I get tons of spam in my email daily (about 1/8th of which are price lists from suppliers I wish would just go away :D) and the other 88% of 'em are valid emails, about half of which are questions... Oh, but I forgot to meantion, I received (this past week, ending today and the day's not over yet) in the neighbourhood of 6000 emails (exact count not available as I don't have the time to count each one of 'em). I guess I'd be lying if I said I havn't flipped out at a customer or two over the past 5 years, but still in all, when I do, I generally try and keep it as low key as possible, so I move onto something else before it clicks with them that I just insulted them (and I havn't done that a lot, maybe once each busy season (twice a year here)). If they can't take being asked stupid questions, simple solution... and it goes similar to a guy asking his doctor "Doctor, it hurts when I do this." To which the doctor replies, "Well, don't do that." I mean, if you don't want to answer the stupid questions, DONT... I know I don't if I don't feel like babying the customer, I just (if they come into the shop directly not via email) redirect 'em to a co worker who's been in sales for the past 40 years and has handled people like this every day of his life. We're all techies, we like to answer questions when at all possible, but generally speaking 99% of us would rather just ignore the stupid questions rather than get upset with people asking them.

Oh well, my :two cents:

Dude, I agree with you. I think he just hurt the reputation of his website with that article if you ask me. Now his readers know what he is all about.

Humans weren't designed to sit all day in front of a computer answering questions and responding to suggestions (some very very stupid believe me...).

We're not? LOL
