Nightowl, AVG 8?

Hi nightowl,

I was wondering what you think of AVG 8? If you have had any experience of it that is.

It seems to be absolutely killing my laptop, if I dare to try and do 2 things at once its awful. Videos seem to be particularly bad, not just streaming but just simply playing them aswell.

avgrsx.exe sometimes takes up as much as 50,000k of memory, i've tried fiddling about with the settings but it doesnt seem to make much of a difference.

I also tried going back to avg 7 but had errors after doing updates. By the way i'm presuming its avg 8 thats causing these problems because recently I reinstalled windows XP so it shouldn't be anything else unless I didn't reinstall something or somethings properly.

I havent had any expiereience with AVG 8

Some good programs should be left alone, seems like when they update it its not as good.

Try reinstalling 7 again, Make sure you Uninstall 8 with Add Remove programs and also check in your Program Files folder, Make sure AVG8 is completely gone. If there is a AVG folder still present delete the files and the folder manually. Then reboot and try reinstalling AVG 7.

I've left AVG 8 for a week, it seems to be alright generally but my internet is so slow, for example going on a bands myspace pages with music absolutely kills internet explorer, ive got 8mb broadband so it really shouldn't be a problem, its really annoying me now. Download VirtumundoBegone, place it on your desktop.

Follow the instructions on the screen.

Download Spybot, AdAware, (Links at the bottom of my message) If you have them allready make sure they are up to
date.



You may want to print this out
Unplug the internet from your computer
Reboot To Safe Mode (tap F8 on Startup)

Open up Hijack This and Place a check next to each of
these and click Fix Checked.
