It looks like Sony discontinued the W10 very quickly and replaced it with the W20 which sports a P4 1.8GHz CPU and a DVD/CD-RW combo drive. Smart move by Sony as this makes the system a lot more attractive. Same price too btw.

I just played with one in CompUSA, and I have to say I am realy impressed. The speed hits a nice sweet spot where sure it isn't great for 3D games, but will run standard 2d stuff nice and speedy, and there's no Windows Bloat Lag in the user interface.

And as dorky as it seems, I could probably sit and flip the keyboard up and down a million times in amusement, jsut to watch the funky transition.

I would consider one of these for a bedroom or kitchen if they dropped to $1200. $1600 seems a little steep, since the components they use probably cost them $300.

I am currently reviewing one of these and will be posting my review sometime this week. I just finished an Apple iMac review which is here: http://reviews.designtechnica.com/review50.html and I can tell you that I see a lot of similarities. They are both lifestyle computers and fit that niche market where people look for design and function over speed and power. I REALLY like the Sony W20 so far and my wife digs it too. I would like to put it on the kitchen desk we have, it would be perfect for paying bills and for people to awe at and use when they are over at the house.

I think the W is the coolest looking desktop I have ever seen. My budget allows for a new addition to the family. I just can't make up my mind. Will it be the biggest, baddest laptop sony offers right now or will it be the W? Tough decision.

Ioman......What do you think about your W? The only hesitation I have about the W is it doesn't really compare with the newest additions to sony's laptops.

At this point I would give it a 7-8/10. An equivalent laptop would cost you more than the $1599 the W20 is going for. If you plan on taking your laptop with you, then go that route. If you plan on keeping your system in one room, the W20 would be perfect. I really really like the W20 a lot. The problem I have is that it's neither and both a laptop and desktop if you know what I mean. I really wish it was a lot more powerful than the P4 1.8 that is in there.
