Wow, I couldn't get my panasonic 2004 DVD player to generate any sound.

So I bought a new upconverted Panasonic DVD player and was told by an "expert" to plug in both the HDMI blue cable AND the RGB cable to the backs of the player and the hi-def plasma TV. Still no sound. The old recorder needed to play on COMP 1 in the TV settings (instead of HDMI1 for TV).

Then I was told to remove the RGB cable and only use the HDMI cable...nothing else. But the sound level was so low that the tech told me it was a "low volume" cable. So I had to turn up my receiver on DVD setting to MAX and use the TV remote to contrrol the volume of the DVD player. Also instead of the setting of COMP1, I was now advised to use the HDMI 2 setting.

Anyone else with this problem?

Aloha and Mahalo (thank you)

MAKE and model of BOTH, TV and DVD player?
Also many DVD players dont have a High volume, its better to Max it out and use the TV volume.
If you want better volume, This can be tricky. Many units that use HDMI dont allow you any way to split the Audio output to another unit, like your stereo.

I just told you in my question that I did all this. If you bothered to read my question I called the cable "low volume" and maxed out the receiver for DVD. And use the TV for volume control. All I wanted was sound. Now I can hook up my Bose home theatre system.

I am well aware that there are many ways to hook up all these components.

Good Luck, a sad wish to those that know what they are doing, and still ask for help.

You truly are an obnoxious twit.
